Autumn: Hair & Skin Guide

All so quickly Summer came, and made a good appearance we enjoyed the barbeques and pop-ups sipping gloriously on chilled cocktails when the sun almost took us out! Now the breeze that we feel blowing is so chilly one would think winter is already here, so chilly with the usual pitty patta the weather of London surprises us with daily.

On that note, it is highly essential to take extra care of your hair and skin. I don't know about you but I have noticed that right after I come out of the shower, my skin begins to scream for moisture. Whew!

Would I be a skincare formulator if I did not give you tips on how to care for your tresses and skin at this time? Oh well, here's a guide for both your skin and hair.

Skin

Whether you have dry, oily, or combination skin moisture is important for you. during the day dependent on your situation whether you work remotely or face the blistering cold.

Dry Skin: as the air gets dryer you may find your skin begins to itch, switching to an emollient moisturizer such as our Shea Body Wax after you shower in the morning is a good way to start. Not only does it reduce the inflammation and discomfort from the itch it keeps you moisturized. Ensure to keep a hand cream and lip balm at hand to top up moisture and prevent cracked lips

Oily/Combination Oily- even if we (yes, I'm on this table) need to layer up a good amount of moisture, our Cocoa Shea and Cocoa Meme Body Wax which is formulated with you in mind will help you retain moisture throughout the day and even throughout the night.

Can I exfoliate? Yes, you can do it, however, unlike the other seasons, a good exfoliating twice a week will do your skin a great deal of good. What's great? Our newly improved formula for scrubs simply means with its emulsified texture its easier to use leaving you with polished and supple skin.

Hair

Natural or permed, we can agree on one thing; protective styling!

Why? As the weather changes to dry, you may agree that many of us women experience breakage, and sometimes shedding that for some women even brings tears to their eyes. It is imperative to protect your tresses in the protective style you prefer.

Get a nourishing shampoo: how best to clean your scalp than to use a nourishing shampoo that contains essential oils to help restore any moisture loss, choose either Repair & Restore or Dry & Itchy Scalp Shampoo.

Ask for extra love: if you visit the salon for wash day, ask for TLC, your strands depending on your hair texture are most vulnerable. a decrease in the water temperature to lukewarm, and a little scalp massage because you deserve it.

Deep Condition: I cannot say this enough, in this season be intentional with conditioning your hair for at least 30 minutes. This would keep your hair and scalp deeply moisturized, and soft, restore your deep curls or coils as well as repair any damage.

Use oil for your scalp: depending on your hair porosity, apply oil to your scalp to prevent dryness and breakage. If you have a protective style, apply in the rows 2 to 3 times weekly to maintain and retain moisture.
